On the banks of the river Meuse in the Waloon countryside, the first floor apartment of a grand maison de maître was refurbished to meet the expansion of the notary office below. New windows, shades, and paint rejuvenate the building’s stateliness, contrasting with the restored woodwork of the main staircase. Iconic modular office furniture adorns the conference room, extending into the principal’s sunlit alcove backed by a bookcase abundant with references. Sculptural light fixtures recall the paper-dependent profession. A custom meeting table with built-in technical connections affords videoconferencing and virtual signing. In the refreshed waiting room, simple bespoke benches make efficient use of the space.
